Why is the fridge door so hard to open right after being closed?

   Sometimes I look in the fridge and close the door only to remember something else to look for and I try to open the fridge again and the door is suddenly 100 times harder to open.
   There have been times I have pulled the fridge out from the wall trying to open the door too soon.
   
   Why is this?

   because hot air tries to get in. not cold air tries to get out. it fights the vacuum of hot air. this puts preasure around the outside trying to get inside with hot air.

   Basically this. Cold air takes up less space than warm/hot air does. Thus the cold inside of the fridge keeps air more compressed; when you close the door it shrinks the air volume somewhat, making a vacuum of sorts, pulling the door in some. Look at the rubber gasket (accordion shaped rubber trim lining the perimeter of the door, as this part compresses to accommodate the shrinkage of volume of air inside. This pulls the door tighter.

   Why don't you get back to us after having some scientific evidence to back up your claim? Perhaps use a trigger pull gauge or similar instrument (go ahead and buy one, I know you like to buy random shit for the hell of it) to measure the amount of force that it takes to open to door for the first and second time? Honestly, we are not really talking about anything here until there are multiple trials with a certain instrument to back up your claims.

    being denser isnt the same as being compressed.
    
    its when the door is open the fridge is filled with warm and not-so-cold airs.
    
    when the door shuts the warm and not-so-cold airs are getting cooled by whatever that inside the fridge and shrinks, becoming denser, thereby losing volume in the process.
    
    fridges arent airtight so eventually the vaccumm will be filled with airs as airs leak in into the fridge.
