Guys... Guys... (keep in mind this is an ultra hardcore most hardcore of all online ultiplayer shooter set in the ww2 era eastern front):
This is a game I actually was competitive at or got descent at at one point where I would rank in lower third or close to halfway in rankings at the end of matches. I even remember researching the tank how to use them as I expected to get really into the game. This was when I still lived in california. Crazy world as I am playing it on the same old iMac 2009 with windows 7 I put on half its partition via bootcamp here in Poland. I have no idea how I ever got even remotely descent at this game though or if the player base is so much more hardcore now with only two mains servers up still full of people 64 man matches outside the bot servers and I remember at the time the game being very active.
I also remember there being this glitch that would come up but I think this may be the reason for the games lacking popularity since this still is the most hardcore and realistic first person shooter of all time. One that is also historically accurate. But this glitch pops up in some matches where you avae to enter umbra culling into the games console by pressing ` when it pops upa t certain points in certain maps:
reddit.com/r/redorchestra/comments/45iqkn/graphics_glitch_in_ro2/I really think this is the single reason this game did not take off more so even though like I said it still has a hardcore following of say two 64 non bot or mans ervers up at all times of the day and at one point when i got descent at it it was pretty hot despite this one issue.
red orchestra 2 is literally the most inaccessible, hardest to get into especially now with the active player base remaining being so hardcore, most historically accurate and realistic shooter of all time. but thats what make sit beautiful in a way and a challenge or a nut to crack as i did st one point. i dont knoe tho if the player base is now more hardcore or not but that was roughly 5.5-7 yrs ago.
