what shows more inherently dishonest character, read receipts on or off?

   everyone kind of assumes its with read receipts off because if they're off, the person texting doesn't know if you've read it or not.
   
   but if they are on, you can still read most texts or at least get an idea of what they are from notifications but then the person can mislead the one texting them into thinking they didn't see or read the text until whenever they choose.

   I keep mine off. There’s no reason why someone should be able to see whether I read their dumb texts or not
